Get to know your valves

Presta

  • Lower weight
  • Needs no cap
  • Built for higher pressures
  • Will not clog with mud
  • Skinny and Light

Schrader

  • Heavy
  • Fills with mud
  • can leak air
  • needs no adapter for old pumps or filling station pump
  • Fat and Heavy

Basically we would always run a Presta valve if given a chance. On a road bike it really is the only game in town. On a Mt. bike it is more common on bikes above $500.

This is J’s SS F-29er. This bike is too fun. Really. No chain noise, No skipping, No trouble. This bike is all ride and Smile. Highlights include: ENO Disc Rear Hub, Magura Louise Carbon Brakes, Seven cycles Ti Handlebar, Python 29er Tires, XT Crank w/Rotor Q-Ring and Rotor Ceramic BB. This thing rolls fast and hops over logs like they were cracks in the sidewalk. Long Live big wheels!

Here is an interesting re-build of Pat M’s Scalpel 1000. Although this is only a cosmetic rebuild, Pat was very happy with the result. And yes, this bike has brought him good luck.

This was a project bike that we built up a while back for our good friend Chris G. We had Carl at Vicious Cycles build us a 1″ steerer fork to bring this beauty back to it’s early 90’s vision.  Chris now rides this bike as a Single-Speed.  We built him a White ENO rear wheel to pull the chain tight. Very cool bike.. and rider I might add.

Here is a Custom Ti Seven Axiom that was built as a 2nd Seven after the owner’s first seven was tragically stolen. There is nothing that can compare to a custom made bike. Dura Ace All around with some Topolino wheels for good luck.
